Howard University: Louis Stokes Health Services Library

Overview:The Howard University: Louis Stokes Health Services Library project was to redesign the library stack area into a new proctor testing center to be used by the University’s medical and dental schools. Very little demolition was required and the University choose not to replace the existing carpet.

The scope of work included the creation of 139 workstations with two proctor desk and reception desk where provided. Two existing offices were converted into study rooms with new furniture. To create a second closed space for testing, new drywall partitions, doors and clerestory window system were constructed. The existing window treatment were replaced and new storefront door provided at the testing center reception area.

The redesign included the installation of fire alarm devices and window film was added to the existing storefront window system for privacy.

The project achieved 60% CBE and 90% SBE participation including participation of mostly women-owned business.
