Project Description
Swampoodle Park
Client: Noma Parks Foundation Stacie West
Overview:
The Swampoodle Park is a dog park facility and children’s playground located in the NoMa neighborhood of NE Washington, DC. The site, developed by the NoMa Parks Foundation, was the remaining portion of a square that had recently been developed into two high-rise residential multi- family buildings. The 5,295 square foot site was designed in conjunction with Lee and Associates, Inc. (landscape architect) to provide intriguing site slopes, as well as an agility structure for dogs in the neighborhood. Accompanied with a ‘Waholla’ playground structure for children in the neighborhood, CAS provided the utility and stormwater management design plans for the park, which included a fully pervious turf surface, as well as bioretention facilities on the downhill end of the property. Since its opening in late 2018, the park has been a well visited staple of the community. Substantial completion: November 2018.
